Humanity is a marvelous thing. As a whole, but particularly on an individual level. It is our source. The core of our being\u2026the seat of our empathy. It is who we are. It is our humanity that creates. It is joy. It sees itself in others and responds. It transcends borders and language. We connect to each other through our humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our bodies seem insufficient to house something that vast. And in truth, they are. They are vehicles we ride around in for a short period of time. Inevitably those vehicles break down. They were never designed for permanence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So eventually our humanity, that joyful, loving and loved core, leaves the car by the side of the road, gets out and walks. I don’t know why, but I like to think it sees such a lovely day and the scenery is so gorgeous, that it just couldn’t stay cooped up in that vehicle any longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are left with the vehicle. It is our reference point for the person we lost, but the vehicle is not them and they are not lost. They’ve just gone for a walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My heart is breaking for you, Kelly, Anne and Nick, and I love you dearly. I only knew Nora through your eyes, but her humanity was a joy to behold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
